Beware of Theft When Economic Times Turn
Thursday, 29 May 2008
While we have yet to receive reports in Virginia, optometric offices
across the nation are seeing more theft of high end frames and
sunglasses. Normally two or more persons, often without an
appointment, enter the office to look at frames. While one distracts
your office staff, their partner(s) pocket high end frames and
sunglasses. Traditionally this type of theft increases during
difficult economic times.
CMS (Federal government Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) has
asked us to remind all whom bill Medicare for Part B claims of the
following:
Effective March 1, 2008 all CMS-1500 claims MUST have an NPI (national
provider id) or NPI/Legacy pair in the required provider fields.
Failure to include an NPI will result in your claim being rejected.
The
Crossover Clinic is in DESPERATE need of volunteers, both optometrists
and ophthalmologists. NO ONE responded to our request last Spring.
Surely, you can give one or two half days a year to those who have
almost nothing. The equipment is good and it is an interesting
experience. Give me a call, 233-3735 or e-mail

.Also,
if you know of a plus-cyl phoropter in good condition, the clinic could
use one for visiting ophthalmologists. Thanks. Joe Toler

to your local media outreach efforts. This campaign has helped AOA
become a recognized leader in educating parents about the harmful risks
of computer vision syndrome (CVS) and the effects it can have on their
child.
